What Range Do You Get on a Tesla?

Written by Lozi Mabunga | 9 August, 2022

When we think of an electric car, it’s not hard to imagine a Tesla. Over the years, this US-based car manufacturer has produced an impressive lineup of electric vehicles that amazed drivers, especially those shifting to greener cars. 🍃 So if you have been asking "What is the electric car with the longest range?" you might have had the name Tesla in the forefront of your mind. Curious to know the range Tesla electric cars can actually give you? Here’s what you can get from Models S, 3, X, and Y!

Model S: 400 Miles

Driving a Tesla is a whole new experience. It doesn’t have any starter button or handbrake. Instead, the car can detect that you’re already in the driver’s seat and then automatically turns on. What’s left for you to do is choose Drive in the gear selector and then go on your way in your Model S. All this may feel weird at first, but it won’t be hard to get used to it.

All Model S versions have four-wheel drive and lots of traction. You only have to gently touch the throttle, and the car will instantly respond. For drives where you just want to take it easy, then you can choose to cruise comfortably. This feature is available on all versions of the Model S.

The fast acceleration you get from this car will impress you. But you might still be worried about this Tesla’s range capability. It’s one of the best electric cars with the longest range at 400 miles on a single charge for the latest versions. Checking the energy flow data of your electric car is also easy with the Model S, so you never have to guess if you need to plug it in.

Model 3: 305 to 374 Miles

When it comes to fast acceleration, we know Tesla is a car manufacturer that makes sure their EVs have this capability. This is true for the Model 3, no matter the powertrain. For the entry-level version, it’s a rear drive, so it’s lighter compared to the higher versions. But this isn’t a disadvantage because it’s more agile not having that second electric motor.

If you don’t mind spending a bit more, you can get a more awesome driving experience with the dual-motor all-wheel drive version. The car accelerates instantly and comes with off-the-line performance, making it effortless whenever you need to overtake. The Model 3 can compete with the fastest saloons on the road today

Now, if you’re looking for figures, the Model 3 entry-level version can go from zero to 62mph in 5.8 seconds. Its top speed is 140mph, coming from its 180kW electric motor. It also has a range of 305 miles on a single charge, making it one of the best electric cars with a 300-mile range in the UK.

The dual-motor all-wheel drive version, on the other hand, can produce 335kW of power, giving you 449bhp. Getting to 62mph from zero is a mere 3.1 seconds for this version, with a top speed of 162mph. It has a range of 340 miles, while the Long Range version of the Model 3 can go up to 374 miles.

Model X: 333 to 348 Miles

So, we’ve already talked about the quick acceleration of the Model 3, reaching 62mph in three seconds. You may think that’s already fast, but you should try driving the Model X. With Tesla’s Model X,  that time to 62mph is even less, at just 2.5 seconds for the Plaid, which is the fastest version. The dual-motor version can reach 62mph in 3.8 seconds, with a 155mph top speed. As for the range, this version of the Model X can get you to 348 miles on one full charge.  The fastest version, the Plaid, has less range at 333 miles.

With all those figures, we can say for sure that the Model X is an excellent EV. You can drive it an average distance for a good number of days without needing to plug it in. For longer trips, you don’t have to worry about where to charge your EV because the Tesla Superchargers are everywhere now, and they’re still increasing. Even if you can only charge your Model X for 15 minutes, it’s enough to give you a 175-mile range. It’s clear that the Model X is one of the most impressive electric cars with the best range in the UK.

Model Y: 309 to 331 Miles

Are you looking for an all-electric vehicle for the whole family? Tesla offers the Model Y for this purpose. The Model Y is bigger and more spacious than the Model 3, and it’s now the best-selling vehicle in the UK. With a competitive price, outstanding range, and excellent onboard technology, the money you’d spend on this Tesla is well worth it. The Model Y is in the same category as the Audi Q4 e-Tron, Mercedes EQA, and the Ford Mustang Mach-E.

As with other Tesla cars, the Model Y also gets to 62mph from zero in under five seconds. This is true for both the dual-motor version and the all-wheel drive version. This family EV is truly a capable and reliable car, whether you’re driving in the city, cruising on the motorway, or even on rougher terrains when you’re going on a road trip with your family. There’s also good storage space and plenty of room for your passengers. The whole family will love this dependable and safe EV.

Takeaway

What do you think of these electric cars from Tesla? Each model has its own set of features to offer. You can get one that has the longest range, the fastest acceleration time, or the most suitable for the whole family. Like many EVs, Tesla cars are continually improving with each updated version. Some might find some flaws and will have something to say about the tiniest details, but it’s hard to be disappointed with an electric car from Tesla. And as an added bonus, if you buy a second-hand Tesla which is pre-2017 you can even get free fast charging at the Tesla charging points! And they have other offers of free or reduced price charing from time to time. That has to be a bonus. 👍
