Mobile Operating System Support Policy

terms-hero-img

We want you to have the best possible experience when using the Carmoola mobile app.

To ensure performance, security, and access to the latest features, we support a specific range of mobile operating systems (OS).

What’s a mobile operating system?

Your mobile operating system is the software that runs your phone or tablet, such as iOS (for iPhones and iPads) or Android (for a wide range of smartphones and tablets).

Carmoola supports both iOS and Android operating systems, with dedicated apps available for each.

Which versions do we support?

We aim to strike a balance between:

  • Which OS versions the majority of our customers use, and what other finance providers support
  • Which OS versions still receive security updates
  • Our responsibility to protect customers, as older OS versions pose greater security risks
  • The total number of OS versions we can realistically support
  • Ensuring the best possible experience, which is typically on the latest versions

Currently, we support:

  • Android OS version 7 and above
  • iOS version 15.1 and above

Typically, we support at least four of the latest OS versions. Older versions may not be compatible or may have reduced functionality. We recommend updating your device to the newest OS version for the best experience.

What happens when an OS version is no longer supported?

If you're using a version we no longer support:

  1. You won’t be able to update to the latest Carmoola app
This means you might miss out on new features, performance improvements, and important security updates.
  2. The app may no longer work on that OS version

We’ll notify you in the Carmoola app if an upgrade is available for your device. In some cases, you may be able to continue using your current version — but if a critical update is required, you’ll need to install it to keep using the app.

What can you do if your OS is no longer supported?

You’ll have a few options:

1. Upgrade your OS

Most devices can update their OS for several years. Go to your settings to check if an update is available.

2. Use another device

If one device is no longer supported, another one you own—like a tablet—might be. Log in from that device instead.

3. Close your Carmoola account

If you no longer have access to any compatible device, you may wish to close your account. If you have an active loan, this will need to be fully settled before you can close your account.

  • If you still have access to a supported device, you can close your account in the Carmoola app.

  • If not, contact us and we’ll help.

Where can I find out my operating system version?

  • On iOS:

Go to Settings > General > About
  • On Android

It may vary slightly depending on your current version and device manufacturer.

Go to Settings > About phone > Android version

How do I know if I can upgrade my operating system version?

  • On iOS:

Go to Settings > General > Software Update

  • On Android

It may vary slightly depending on your current version and device manufacturer.

Go to Settings > System > System update

What do I do if an OS update isn’t available on my device, or I’m having trouble upgrading?

Unfortunately, our Customer Service team isn't specialised in device operating systems. For any issues related to OS updates, we recommend contacting your device manufacturer or provider directly.
